USA. British luxury perfumery brand Penhaligon’s, part of Puig, has made its North American travel retail debut with a store at New York John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, in partnership with International Shoppes.
The opening comes amid rising demand for niche fragrances in North America and underlines Penhaligon’s goal of expanding its global presence, the brand owner said.
The counter, located in the multibrand iS Beauty store in JFK Terminal 1, provides travellers with an immersive experience showcasing Penhaligon’s heritage and craftsmanship.
Featuring the brand’s signature Oud de Nil colour palette, the store includes dedicated sections for Penhaligon’s key collections: British Tales, Portraits and Trade Routes.
British Tales celebrates 150 years of British perfumery, drawing inspiration from history, myth, lore and legend. Portraits is a playful tribute to secretive aristocratic characters, capturing the spirit of the English with a mix of dry humour and provocation. Trade Routes is inspired by the luxurious goods traded at the London Docks, evoking the spirit of adventure and discovery.
In addition to these collections, the store offers the full range of Penhaligon’s fragrances and travel retail-exclusive sets.
Puig Executive Vice President Global Travel Retail Kaatje Noens commented: “Penhaligon’s entry into North America travel retail is timely as consumers in the region are increasingly seeking luxury and more sophisticated fragrance products.
“We’re delighted to introduce the brand’s exquisite fragrance collections to shoppers at one of North America’s top airports in a stunning retail space that sets a new standard for luxury fragrance offerings in the Americas.”
International Shoppes Co-CEO Scott Halpern added: “International Shoppes is thrilled to have been chosen as the first duty-free retailer in travel retail North America to introduce the charm of British perfumery brand Penhaligon’s to travellers at JFK Terminal 1.
“When carefully selecting brands for our new speciality fragrance store, Penhaligon’s was an obvious choice, reflecting our commitment to offering the finest and most distinctive scents to our customers.” ✈
