Pickleball is officially the fastest-growing sport in the United States of America (USA) and soon could also feature in the currency of the country. With the sport becoming a household favourite in every corner of the country, its popularity could reflect on American money in 2027.
The US Mint will soon release a series of state quarters from 2027 as part of a ‘Youth Sports Programe.’ This will be a four-year programme that will feature youth sports that have helped ‘shape the nation.’
For those unversed, the US Mint is a government agency and a bureau of the Department of Treasury. They are responsible for manufacturing and circulating coins that are used by Americans.
The US Mint has called for people to vote on the sports they would like to feature in the ‘Youth Sports Programme.’ People in the USA can visit the offical site of the agency and vote for the sports themes they should consider to feature in American quarters for the period between 2027 and 2030.
Meanwhile, pickleball is making rapid waves in the USA and other countries around the world, including India. The ongoing 4th IPA Nations held at the Bennett University in Greater Noida has proven to be a resounding success with the best talents in the country competing with participation from states across the nation.
With the launch of the PWR DUPR India Tour and League and the World Tour and Series, the sport is set for global fame in 2025. Recently, Andre Agassi backed the racquet sport to become an Olympic sport by the 2036 edition.
