PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott is blunt with his words, and when he was asked about the Steelers’ upcoming schedule of facing three top teams in the NFL in the next 11 days, Elliott called out the NFL.
From scheduling to how he sees some of the calls going against the Steelers, Elliott thinks the NFL might ‘hate’ the Steelers a bit, but there are no excuses for that matchup.
“We know it now. We’ve been knowing it for the last couple weeks. But shoot, we’ve got to line up and play,” Elliott said. “It’s just going to show us how good we can be. No excuses obviously. The penalties and the flags that happened today, I feel like the league kinda hates us already, man. So, it’s all right. We’re going go out here, we’re going to play those games, we’re going to work our butts off and hopefully go out and be 3-0.”
Elliott is coming off one of the best games of his career against the Browns. He made 13 tackles, including nine solo tackles with seven of those tackles coming short of the sticks. He was everywhere against Cleveland, and even though he did allow one late touchdown to Browns tight end David Njoku, Elliott continues to impress after being signed by the Miami Dolphins this offseason.
The Steelers will play the Philadelphia Eagles next week, and then head to Baltimore to clash with the Ravens before returning home to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas.
