Tom Kim has affirmed himself as the chief agitator of the US team at the Presidents Cup after criticising the American’s lack of sportsmanship following a marathon, drama-filled third day at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
Kim has been at the centre of several heated moments throughout the event from getting into a yelling match when holing birdie putts with good friend Scottie Scheffler on Thursday to expressing his displeasure with opponents Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay’s antics on Saturday.

Si Woo Kim’s incredible chip to win hole | 01:34
The American duo opted not to give the 22-year-old a ‘gimme’ on the seventh hole which prompted Kim and his playing partner Si Woo Kim to roar in celebration when Tom drained a 37-foot birdie putt on the ninth.
But the most dramatic moment came when Si Woo chipped-in for birdie on the 16th to level the match and he ran around the ground replicating NBA star Steph Curry’s famous ‘night, night’ celebration.
It backfired in the end as Cantlay came up clutch with his birdie putt on the 18th to win the match, but Kim was most hurt post-round by the vulgar language the Americans used towards the International team throughout the day.
“I think the start of the round was definitely a little harder, but as it got towards the end, it got a little feisty out there. I could hear some players cursing at us,” he said.
“That part wasn’t really – I don’t think there was good sportsmanship there. But it’s all part of the fun. I understand it.
“You see me out there throwing fist pumps and jumping on the green. It’s all part of it, I get it. I just don’t think there’s a need to look at someone and curse at them. I just don’t think there’s a need for it.
“I understand it. I don’t get hurt about it. My feelings don’t hurt at all. I hope there’s no negative comments. That’s not what I’m trying to do here. I just feel like there’s always little things, like what could I have done better? It’s just certain things like that.
“I put my partner in some tough positions, and that to me is the most frustrating part of the day. He and I talked about when we got down early let’s just push it to 18. Obviously, we did, and they had to play good to beat us, so claps to them.”

Kim’s accusations were shot down by his opponents in their end of day press conference.
Schauffele – who helped the Kims find their ball when it was buried in the greenside rough before Si Woo’s spectacular – denied that he and Cantlay swore at the Internationals and insisted that they conducted themselves in a respectful manner.
“I felt like Pat and I, we treated the Kims with the utmost respect,” the two-time major champion said.
“We’re trying to quiet the crowds down when they were hitting. We’re trying to quiet the crowd — go back on film, quiet the crowds down when we were hitting.
“It was fair take, give and go. I have no clue if anyone was doing any of that (swearing). I don’t believe any of our guys would do something like that. So, I’m not sure what he was hearing.”
