KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson continues to progress in his recovery from a seizure.
On Monday, the second-year pro from Stephen F. Austin University was released from the hospital, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Thompson’s agent Chris Turnage shared the news with Pelissero.
The former sixth-round pick suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a Chiefs special teams meeting on Thursday.
On Friday, Turnage told KCTV that quick action from the team’s medical staff was key to avoiding the worst outcomes for Thompson.
“Some of the Chiefs’ staff came up today to see BJ and talk to him, which I thought was a great touch,” Turnage said. “The Chiefs’ training staff did a phenomenal job. Our thanks goes out to them, because if it weren’t for them, we’d be talking a very different story.”
