As we all know, Tom Brady won seven Super Bowls, but those three losses still sting – and he says he still gets reminded about the ‘Philly Special’ defeat by the Eagles and even David Tyree’s helmet catch against the Giants way back in 2008.
And that’s why the GOAT says Patrick Mahomes should be hard at work, as even though he was won three, if he loses today “he’ll be 3-2 in Super Bowls and that won’t be a great feeling” according to Brady.
“I literally went wire-to-wire for two weeks,” Brady told ESPN’s Colin Cowherd when asked how he prepared for a Super Bowl. “I just realised how important these games were.
“What I realised pretty early in my career about Super Bowls was – we win another and I thought what’s the big deal? Then you go to 2007 and you lose, 2011 and we lose and it’s wow, this is way harder, we went 10 years without winning.
“So then with every one of these Super Bowl moments I get a chance to partake in, I’m going to exhaust every bit of energy I have into these games.
“Because when you lose this game, it’s on your resume forever. A loss in the Super Bowl matters more than any loss you’re ever going to be a part of.”
