American Airlines is making it easier to get to Italy next summer with a couple of brand-new routes from the United States to both Venice and Naples.

To start, the carrier will launch flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Naples on May 6, 2025, American shared with Travel + Leisure. That flight will be operated daily on a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

That route will complement the seasonal flight American operates from Philadelphia to Naples, which it first launched this year. 

In addition, American will fly its first-ever nonstop route from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Venice starting June 5, 2025. That flight will also operate daily on a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

Similarly, American operates seasonal flights from Philadelphia to Venice.

“As Italy continues to remain popular for summertime travel, American is making it easier than ever for customers to shop, dine or unwind in their favorite destinations,” Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning, said in a statement. “Whether reveling in the history of Rome or relaxing on a beach on the Mediterranean, American’s network will offer more ways for customers to plan their perfect itinerary.”

Beyond the new flights, American will also expand its service to Rome by adding a second daily summer flight from Philadelphia and launching its service from Miami a month earlier in June.

Tickets for the new flights will be available for purchase starting Nov. 4.

Beyond Italy, American will also fly to several other popular destinations in Europe, including planning to resume service to Edinburgh next year as well as launching more flights to Athens and Milan.

American is also upping its game when it comes to technology, signing up to participate in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) PreCheck Touchless ID program and testing a new boarding system to ensure travelers board with their designated group.
