What Gauff and Fritz had to say

The United States is already considered the frontrunner for the cup, and Gauff and Fritz have made sure so far that the prediction stays in place. The 20-year-old tennis prodigy stated that she is calm and is having a lot of fun when not playing. She also acknowledged that even though the stakes are high, she is backing herself up to win the trophy second and bring it home. 

“I’m having a lot of fun. We have a great team; great emotions and we are excited that we managed to get to the next round of the tournament and hopefully we can make it to the end. I always want to win, so I wouldn’t say that the stakes are higher or lower. I am definitely much more relaxed in the changeovers; I laugh a little more and I talk more. In general, things that you can’t do when you play a normal tournament,” Coco Gauff said. 

In contrast, Fritz stated that the victory in the second game and his precise serves during the game helped him stay confident throughout the game. He is hopeful for a great result in the finals.

“Today I served well, but I think that in general in the match I felt much calmer. In today’s match I thought more clearly than in the other. Surely the victory in the second match and the feeling of well-being today helped me,” he said.

All eyes are on Italy and the Czech Republic’s crucial Friday match, which will determine who advances to face the United States in the semifinals.
