The 2024 US Open was full of excitement. America’s impressive performance, awkward spectator moments, and more made it a memorable tournament. American players, including Taylor Fritz, struck a chord with the audience with great attempts to win the title. While it couldn’t see the dawn of glory, everyone, including the legendary Venus Williams, had only compliments, offering positive predictions about USA’s future in the sport.
In an interview with ABC News, Williams expressed a proud and happy state of mind while talking about the great show by American players. Although she appeared on the show to discuss her latest book, Strive, this former WTA number-one delved into her happiness about Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Jessica Pegula’s incredible performance at the last US Open. She also mentioned Coco Gauff’s epic victory at the last year’s American Slam.
“Yeah, it’s very invigorating for the US tennis, and obviously Coco won last year, and it was great for American tennis, great for her too, obviously. And then this year, you know, Fritz in men’s finals and Frances in semifinals, just very exciting.“ The visible happiness on Venus’ face could show her pride in seeing the potential among so many American players in the US Open.
