For years together, we’ve seen Taylor Swift with Selena Gomez. She even has some of the new names added to her BFF list, like Brittany Mahomes, Abigail Anderson Berard, and Ashley Avignone. But a new name, which most of us were not expecting, showed up at the NFL stands for the Kansas City Chiefs versus Houston Texans. That new name was Caitlin Clark. She plays guard for Indian Fever, WNBA.
On noticing this newly-blossomed friendship on the NFL stands, ESPN’s Elle Duncan drew a picture of the two together for the future of women’s sports.
Elle Duncan wants some of Taylor Swift’s bright energy for the WNBA, just like she radiates in the sphere of the NFL. Elle shared her excitement for the same scenario during an interview. She said, “I love this story (Caitlin Clark with Taylor Swift). We could really use a Taylor Swift bump in the women’s sports space.”
Elle emphasized that celebrities like Taylor Swift can boost the recognition of women’s sports. She said it goes beyond Caitlin Clark, it could become a movement to restructure women’s sports and to give due recognition to women athletes.
Elle Duncan in an interview, a year ago, also advocated for Taylor Swift’s bright energy. One should not mistake her influence in the NFL. She said, “Do not blame Taylor Swift for benign a distraction for Travis Kelce not playing well, for the Chiefs not playing good.
No! It’s not her fault. I’m so tired of doing this. We do this to women. It’s only, it’s always the women’s fault for distracting. Nobody’s asking if Travis Kelce is distracting her from a world tour, from the release of her concert.
No one’s saying that. I don’t like that all of a sudden, this has become- this is too much, let’s turn it on Taylor, he’s distracted like he can’t carry on a personal life and also a professional life. Get out of here. He’s Travis Kelce. Stop. She’s not to blame.”
