What does 2025 have in store for American Pickers and its long-running cast? Here’s everything we know.
Created by Mike Wolfe, American Pickers follows a team of antique “pickers” and history fanatics, including Frank Fritz, who sadly passed away in September 2024, and Danielle Colby, as they “scour the country for hidden gems in junkyards, basements, garages, and barns, meeting quirky characters and hearing their amazing stories.”
Speaking with the Script in 2013, Mike gushed: “There was this burning desire in me to be able to do it — to make something no one had ever made before” of creating the beloved series.
“To put fresh eyes on my world as a picker. To show another side of it. That was everything to me,” Mike, 60, added.
“But at the end of the day, it was all about the people I pick from—to give them a voice and to give the item a voice and showing the relationship there, showing an audience these places still exist and that there’s no such thing as a nobody.”
Mike confirmed via Instagram that he and the rest of the show’s cast were gearing up to film Season 27 in November 2024.
“Morning porch vibes from the great state of Tennessee. Enjoying some much needed down time before we start shooting a new season of @americanpickers,” he wrote in the caption. “
It was 2004 when I picked up a camera and started filming Frank and my Two Lane adventures. Now almost 500 episodes in.”
He continued, “My heart is humbled and grateful that you all still tune in to see America and its great people thru our lens. Just like yours the family that we have created has been thru so much together. Beauty and some sadness around our table. But we remain focused on sharing History and how it connects us all.”
The main cast of American Pickers consists of Mike and Danielle.
Frank was part of the cast until 2020 when he left midway through Season 20. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network confirmed his exit in 2021.
And a return is not on the cards for Frank Fritz as he died aged 60 in September 2024 after suffering a stroke.
“I’ve known Frank for more than half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny,” Mike penned in a statement shared to Instagram at the time of his former co-star’s death.
“The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself,” he added, before concluding: “We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home. I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know you’re in a better place.”
The American Pickers host also expressed gratitude for his fans, celebrating 15 years of storytelling and connection through the show.“I fall in love with Ame
