Grab some snacks and get ready to settle into your couch because the 2025 Super Bowl is almost here.
This weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are set to meet again in the final and biggest game of the season, a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl where star quarterback Patrick Mahomes led his team to a 38-35 victory over Jalen Hurts’ squad. After both teams secured wins in the NFC and AFC championship games on Jan. 26, they briefly celebrated before focusing on the main goal: bringing another Super Bowl ring home to their city and fans.
For the Chiefs, Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and the rest of the team are striving for a historic three-peat after winning it all last year and in 2023. As for the Eagles, they previously won one Super Bowl, in 2018 after defeating the New England Patriots.
So, will Hurts get his revenge now that he has superstar running back Saquon Barkley by his side, or will the Chiefs’ dynastic run continue? Find out everything you need to know about the highly anticipated game, including the date, time, location and Grammy-winning halftime show performer, below.
The must-see football game and sports event of the year, Super Bowl 2025, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9. The game will be held two weeks after the NFC and AFC championships, which allowed the winning teams to have an extended break before the matchup.
The official kickoff time for Super Bowl 2025 is 6:30 p.m. ET.
But, fans should tune in early to catch some of the first Super Bowl ads and see the pregame entertainment. The NFL confirmed in November that Jon Batiste will sing the national anthem, and musician Trombone Shorty will perform “America The Beautiful” with Grammy winner Lauren Daigle. Fellow Grammy winner Ledisi will tackle “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Football fans will soon make their way to Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for the game. The stadium is the home of the New Orleans Saints, who did not make the playoffs this season.
The NFL revealed in September that Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show. Lamar shared the news by simply tweeting “Super Bowl LIX. New Orleans” on Sept. 8 and posting a link to a YouTube video.
In the clip, the “Not Like Us” rapper, who just won five Grammys for the diss track, stands in front of a giant American flag on a football field as he loads footballs into a launcher machine.
“What the deal, everybody? My name’s Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up?” he asks. “I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship, no round twos.”
He adds, “I won’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. February 9, 2025. Wear your best dressed, too, even if you’re watching from home.”
On Jan. 23, Apple Music announced on X a special guest who will join Lamar on the field. In another video, Lamar is shown strolling on a football field as he talks on the phone. “I’ve been thinking about a guest performer…” he says as SZA surprises him by dumping a bucket of Gatorade on his head.
SZA and Lamar have teamed up before. They previously collaborated on the song “All The Stars,” which appeared on the soundtrack for “Black Panther.” The song was later nominated at the 2019 Grammys and 2019 Academy Awards.
Super Bowl 2025 will be televised nationally on Fox. It will also stream on the NFL app and the platform Tubi.
Tubi’s coverage includes a pregame show hosted by Olivia Culpo that begins at 3:30 p.m. ET.
