WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB) – The family of Quinyon Mitchell, a football player from Williston, is hopeful he will be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Mitchell was born and raised in Williston. His family is hosting a watch party at their home and they are over the moon about watching Mitchell in Detroit.
In High School, Mitchell played for Williston High School. After graduating, he joined Toledo’s football team as a cornerback where he totaled 122 tackles with 6.5 TFLs, defended 52 passes, came up with six interceptions, and added a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
TV20 Sports Director Jake Rongholt explains the Williston High alum has all the intangibles of a top-tier corner.
“Not only can he force the turnovers, but Mitchell is a terrific man-to-man corner who is dangerous on the deep ball,” said Rongholt. “He sticks to his assignment like glue and is not afraid to get his hands in there and knock the ball loose, but what impressed me the most is his awareness in the end zone. Good luck to the Red Devil alum.”
ABC will air the NFL Draft on TV20 starting at 8 p.m. Our 11 p.m. newscast may be delayed due to the draft.
