God bless America.
There are many characters who make us love the country we call home. From Romper Stomper and Joe Exotic to Dolly Parton and Jimmy Buffett, our nation has had a number of people capture the heart of the American spirit.
However, I am here to introduce you to the next great American character- a Toby Keith-singing Elvis impersonator. Yes, folks, you read that correctly; this impersonator is ditching the classics of “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” and “Blue Suede Shoes” for “Red Solo Cup” and “American Solider.” This impersonator performed at an Italian restaurant in Wisconsin to make this experience even more American.
Honestly, what more could you want?
The creator of the video noted that they stumbled upon this talent while dining at Angelina’s in Delafield, Wisconsin. The inside of this family-owned restaurant looks like it cooks excellent Italian food. If you’re lucky enough to dine there while Elvis is visiting, you’ll have the equivalent of a Michelin Star dining experience.
Editor’s Note: I (Wes) actually live in Delafield, Wisconsin (crazy, right?) and can confirm, Angelina’s is pretty awesome.
The Elvis impersonator is near the front of the restaurant, reading the lyrics off a sheet of paper (we love that old-school touch), and is getting the crowd going with his performance of “Red Solo Cup.” Those actively eating were more focused on their hot pasta, but for those folks at the bar, a few were clapping along with the tune.
“Red Solo cup (uh-huh)
I fill you up Let’s have a party Let’s have a party I love you, red Solo cup I lift you up Proceed to party Proceed to party…”This restaurant crowd was ready to party with chicken parmesan and red wine all night.
The impersonator sounds pretty good, but the only Elvis impersonating he’s doing with this performance is from his outfit. He swapped his blues growls for an Oklahoma twang to deliver these lyrics.
Everything about this video is pure gold. The more I watch it, the more I notice.
I feel like Toby Keith would love this.
