Earning a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame is the highest honor a player can receive, but the process is imperfect.
Generally speaking, deserving players will be enshrined in Canton. What stings, however, is seeing a worthy individual not make the cut—in some cases, for many, many years.
The positive news is the 2024 class is set to include a few standouts who otherwise would’ve been included here. That group includes Dwight Freeney, Randy Gradishar, Devin Hester and Andre Johnson.
The list, while subjective, considers a player’s career production and accomplishments along with typical HOF standards. Only eligible players—five years post-retirement—were evaluated.
