(WLUK) — Due to a shift in its operations, Air Wisconsin says it’s laying off workers in Appleton and Milwaukee.
Following the termination of its capacity purchase agreement with American Airlines on April 3, the company is working to develop alternative flying opportunities, expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
According to its letter to the state, it is likely the company’s plan will involve some level of company-wide workforce reductions.
Air Wisconsin says it could lay off 513 employees; 284 in the Appleton area.
Of the 513 jobs, 219 are management/salaried employees and 294 are union/represented employees.
Any reductions may begin as soon as March 31 or during the 14-day period after.
At this time, reductions are expected to be temporary for unionized employees and permanent for management/salaried employees. The duration of the temporary layoffs is unknown and will be dependent on alternative flying opportunities.
