Get ready for more Gladiators.
Range Sports has signed American Gladiators creator Johnny Ferraro for representation, with plans to revitalize the reality competition franchise.
Range plans to work with Ferraro and his partners “on the development of the American Gladiators IP across TV, film, attractions, merchandise and live events.” Ferraro and Range “are in active development on multiple projects” to bring the American Gladiators brand to new audiences.
“American Gladiators is an iconic brand, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with Johnny to accelerate its growth and expansion across sports, culture and entertainment,” said Will Funk & Greg Luckman, co-presidents of Range Sports, in a statement.
The original series, which ran in syndication from 1989-1996, saw contestants face off against elite “gladiators” in made-for-TV competitions. It was revived in 2008 as a primetime show for NBC, and earlier this year it was rebooted by the BBC, earning a quick second series pickup.
Range Media launched its Range Sports division in 2022 to produce live and on-demand original sports programming, manage and advise sports talent, properties and IP, and invest in sports content and distribution.
