Burley wasted no time between high school baseball and American Legion ball.
The Burley Green Sox opened the season Saturday with a sweep at the Butte Miners Memorial Day Tournament in Butte, Montana.
The Green Sox defeated the Dillon (Montana) Cubs, 9-3, then Butte (Montana) Miners, 7-2.
Burley cruised to a 5-0 lead in the first inning against the Cubs which started when Jacoby Roe scored Jake Redder on a double. Ike Redder then scored Roe on a single, Josiah Robbins scored Kyler Robinson on a fielder’s choice then Jackson Funk drove in two on a triple.
Burley added a run in the second and fifth. Dillon responded with one run in the first and two runs in the third.

The Green Sox made it 9-3 in the top of the seventh when Funk scored Logan Power on a double then Roe scored Funk on a single.
Roe earned the win on the mound as he allowed six hits, one earned run and two walks in six innings. He struck out five. Jake Redder pitched the final inning with two strikeouts and a hit.
Robinson led the offensive with three hits. Funk contributed two hits with three RBIs. Jake Redder, Roe and Mack Haynes registered two hits apiece.
A four-run seventh inning propelled Burley to the win in game two. The Green Sox entered the frame ahead 3-1 before Roe drove in two on a single then Gaige Funk scored Robinson on a single.
The Miners answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Robinson struck out eight in his 6 1/3 inning start. He allowed six hits, two unearned runs and three walks.
Burley battles the 406 Flyers at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
