Mayor Cyndi Baronzzi Dickey issued a formal proclamation declaring November as American Music Month. Each year the Salem Music Study Club, a member of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, participates in the “Parade of American Music” in November, and this year Mike and Ruth Newman are presenting a program honoring Brooks Bowman. Bowman’s family moved to Salem during the depression, composing many popular songs and was known as Princeton’s Cole Porter. Guests are welcome to attend the program which will be held 7 p.m. today in the parlor of the educational building of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
