Ryan Murphy is expanding his American anthology library at FX with the introduction of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez. The upcoming series chronicles the story of disgraced former Patriots player Aaron Hernandez. Set to premiere on Tuesday, September 17, the series trailer sees Josh Rivera transform into the season’s subject, for an adaptation of the story presented in the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. hailing from The Boston Globe and Wondery. The limited series examines the rise and eventual fall of the NFL superstar, exploring his identity, family, career, suicide, and legacy in sports and American culture.
