Apple has reportedly revealed its plans for AI generated emojis in the upcoming iOS 18 update which will be released at annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 24) next month.
Apple has taken a rather slower approach regarding additions especially related to AI, whereas, tech giants like Microsoft and Google were fast to include AI into their services, tools and hardware, according to Laptop.
However, as of now, Apple is reportedly working on its own “Ajax” framework for large language models behind the scenes. It is also teaming up with ChatGPT maker OpenAI for a shorter time period in order to bring AI features to iOS 18 and iPhone 16.
“One of the first AI features to make it to iPhone could deliver something Android users have had access to for some time — emoji mashups like those found on Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen,” stated Mark Gurman.
Apple’s AI-generated emojis are likely to be made on the fly without any external tools.
They will even generate suggestions based on what users are texting at that moment, according to Gurman.
