The Avis American Legion recently celebrated three of their members who have just reached their 50-year benchmark. Pictured, from left, is Gordon “Gordy” Kitchen, a Navy veteran who was in active duty from 1965-69 and in the reserves from 1965 to 1995; Willis “Willie” Swinehart, an Army Veteran who was active duty from 1965-71, he has also been an officer of the legion for many years and held several different positions; and Paul Bowmaster, an Army Veteran who was active duty from 1966-68. Avis American Legion Commander Shawn Norman presented these men with their certificates. “These are great guys who did a lot for our country. We’re happy to have them around,” said Norman.
