LISBON — The Health Academy at Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in conjunction with the American Red Cross hosted a successful blood drive on Oct. 15. During the blood drive, 35 units of blood were collected with 63% of those units coming from first time donors.
According to the American Red Cross website, “Each day, the Red Cross needs to collect about 12,500 blood donations to meet the needs of patients at about 2,500 hospitals and other facilities across the country. T
he need for blood is constant. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.” The American Red Cross is responsible for supplying 40% of all blood products across the nation, promoting the importance of blood donations, and contributing to the community’s health and well-being.
