Some stars have even gone as far as throwing the first pitch, like Emma Stone’s husband, Dave McCary, who is a “lifelong Padres fan.” McCary had the honor of stepping onto the mound ahead of a June 2021 date night with the La La Land actress.
Kate Upton and her husband, MLB pitcher Justin Verlander, on the other hand, have baseball to thank for starting their love story. The couple met in February 2012 on the set of a commercial for the Major League Baseball 2K12 video game and tied the knot five years later.
“It’s been such an incredible decade! Meeting my best friend, getting married and starting a family has been the most amazing gift ever!!! Nothing tops that,” Verlander wrote via Instagram in December 2019.
