The Kansas City Chiefs are releasing defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs following multiple incidents this offseason, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Monday.
Buggs was arrested on a domestic violence/burglary charge and booked into Tuscaloosa County (Ala.) Jail last week. Pelissero added on Monday that Buggs’ bond was revoked and he is currently in jail.
In May, Buggs turned himself in to the same jail on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. Buggs’ agent issued a statement at the time saying that the player “vehemently denies” the allegations and that the dogs didn’t belong to him.
A former Alabama player, Buggs is entering his sixth season in the NFL. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent three seasons there. After two years with the Detroit Lions, Buggs joined Kansas City’s practice squad in January. The Chiefs re-signed him to a futures contract in February.
In 56 career games, Buggs has 89 total tackles, 12 QB hits, four tackles for loss and two sacks.
