Ciaron Maher, the renowned Australian horse trainer, is setting his sights on the American racing scene, as he prepares to jet off to the prestigious Kentucky Derby.
Maher, known for his dominance in Victorian and national racing circuits, expressed his excitement, telling racing.com, “It’s my first time to Kentucky, and I like travelling so really looking forward to it.”

Maher’s connection with Sheikh Fahad, who has a contender in the Derby, serves as a gateway into the American racing world.
Reflecting on his past experiences, Maher mentioned his fruitful stint at the Breeders’ Cup, emphasising the enriching aspect of international travel.
He hinted at the potential influx of American horses into Australian racing, citing Wesley Ward’s success at Royal Ascot.
Maher also revealed his own venture with a two-year-old prospect training in the States.
