Indianapolis, IN. – The Indianapolis Colts today announced Stefan Schultz of Hamburg, Germany as the 2024 Colts International Fan of the Year. The award recognizes extraordinary NFL fans around the world who inspire others through their love of American football.
As the Colts International Fan of the Year, Schultz will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wis. He also will be nominated for the NFL International Fan of the Year, which will be announced during Draft Weekend.
“As the Horseshoe continues to spread around the globe, we are proud to have Stefan as a member of the Colts family as our International Fan of the Year,” said Colts Chief Commercial Officer Roger VanDerSnick. “Stefan has gone above and beyond to show his Colts pride and every day is helping share the excitement of American football with other fans in Europe and around the world.”
“Stefan’s passion for the Colts is truly inspiring,” said former Colts linebacker and the Colts’ official Ambassador in Germany and Austria Bjorn Werner. “His dedication to growing the Colts fan base in Germany and beyond embodies what it means to be part of the Horseshoe family.”
“As we prepare for the historic first Colts game in Berlin, fans like Stefan are leading the way in building an incredible Colts community in Europe,” Werner, also an NFL expert for RTL on German Free TV and co-founder of the German media company Bromance Sports, added. “I can’t wait to celebrate with him and all our German fans this season.”
Schultz, a law enforcement officer, started following the Colts in 2013 and traveled to the U.S. in 2019 to attend his first live Colts game in Nashville against the Tennessee Titans. In 2022, he became a board member of Germaniapolis Blue Nation, one of the Colts fan clubs in Germany.
In this role, he regularly plans club meetings and watch parties, manages the fan club’s Instagram account and co-hosts a Colts podcast. He also was part of the organizing team for the fan club at the 2023 Frankfurt Game, where the Colts defeated the New England Patriots. In the 2024 season, he organized two club trips to attend Colts games stateside.
“I simply live for the Colts, and I am doing everything I can to make the Colts more well-known in Germany,” Schultz said. “In fact, in Frankfurt I was one of those who tried to get tickets for the game at 6 a.m. so that even more Colts fans could be there to root on the guys.”
