Ryan Murphy’s latest FX anthology series offers a fictionalized retelling of the rise and fall of NFL star Aaron Hernandez. He played for the New England Patriots and was later convicted of murder and died in prison in 2017. “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” premieres with two episodes on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
Watch the series premiere for free with a trial from Fubo, DIRECTV Stream or Hulu + Live TV. You’ll also be able to watch it on Sling Blue. On Sept. 18, it will be available on Hulu, which you can access with a free trial or through the Disney Bundle.
This new series focuses on a major event involving a sports figure, re-examining it within the framework of modern society and telling the story from multiple perspectives. This season specifically is based on The Boston Globe and Wondery podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” In 10 episodes, the limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores his identity, family, career, suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.
Watch the first two episodes tonight, Sept. 17, at 10/9c on FX.
