“You don’t know the kind of thoughts I have. It’s like a demon,” says Josh Andrés Rivera as Aaron Hernandez in the dramatic trailer for FX’s latest series American Sports Story. “What if God made me this way?”
Announced earlier this summer, the Ryan Murphy-produced show tracks the true story of the late New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer — both on and off the field.
The FX series about the late football player — who suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and died by suicide in 2017 — features 10 episodes, which are also “based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from The Boston Globe and Wondery,” per Hulu‘s description.
Along with Rivera, Jaylen Barron (Shayanna Jenkins), Lindsay Mendez (Tanya Singleton), Ean Castellanos (D.J. Hernandez), and Tammy Blanchard (Terri Hernandez) also star in the new FX show. According to the series’ logline on Hulu, American Sports Story “charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.”
With new episodes airing each week, here’s everything you should know about watching American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez online.
