The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed an appeal from American tennis player Sydney Dorcil against a Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (TADP) sanction imposed in July 2023. 

An appeal hearing was held via video conference on 15 and 16 February 2024, following which the CAS tribunal upheld the four-year TADP suspension issued by the first-instance independent tribunal, convened by Sport Resolutions.

Dorcil, who reached a career-high world singles ranking of 1255 in 2023, tested positive for the prohibited substance boldenone and its metabolites following an in-competition test in November 2022, and the CAS tribunal determined that Dorcil did not discharge their burden of proving that the Anti-Doping Rule Violation was unintentional.

Dorcil’s period of ineligibility remains unchanged, beginning on 13 January 2023 – the date of their provisional suspension – and will end at midnight on 12 January 2027.  

During the period of ineligibility, Dorcil is prohibited from playing at or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.  

The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis members to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.
