NFL icon JJ Watt looks like he’s still in football shape two years after retirement.

The defensive end played 12 seasons with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, winning three Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Watt, 35, is still working out regularly and showed off his enviable physique on Instagram.

After posting a photo of some weights on his Stories, he added a topless shot which he captioned “progress.”

Watt has joined The NFL Today as a pundit since hanging up his cleats in 2022.

But he told Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans that he would return to the field if needed.

“I told DeMeco last year, I said, ‘Don’t call unless you absolutely need it, but if you ever do call, I’ll be there,” Watt said.

“And, he knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it.”

Former quarterback Matt Ryan will join James Brown, Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher and Watt on CBS next season.

“Matt had an outstanding first year at CBS Sports, excelling as both a studio and game analyst,” CBS Sports president and CEO David Berson said.

“He is the consummate team player and a Hall of Fame person.

“We love the chemistry he has with the studio crew and we’re excited to see him entertain NFL fans and share his passion, insight and perspective alongside JB, Nate, Coach and JJ.”

Watt has also taken an interest in soccer after becoming co-owner of second-tier English team Burnley.

“I can’t explain how deeply passionate I am about [the project at Burnley],” Watt told the Stick to Football podcast.

“I knew I was going to but I did not realize to this level, like how much I would care and love interacting with these people.

“Even when I’m not [in the UK], and I’m in Arizona, waking up at 4am for a match – it really is all out.

“My son is only 18 months old, but he will yell at the TV because his dad threw a coffee mug across the living room.”

Burnley won promotion to the Premier League shortly after Watt announced his investment in the team.

“Last year, we won the Championship about two months after I came on [at Burnley], and Alan [Pace], our majority owner, looks at me and goes, ‘You carry the trophy onto the pitch,'” he continued.

“I was like, ‘Alan, these people are going to boo me off the pitch! I’m the student that showed up to the project without doing anything!’

“But it was the coolest day [winning the league]. We did the bus parade and everything.

“Knowing that day, and always having it in my mind, that’s the only thing I want to get back for these people – how that feels.”

Burnley have since been relegated back to the Championship but Watt is determined to fight back.
