Allianz Partners USA has released its 16th Annual Vacation Confidence Index, highlighting significant trends in American travel for 2024. This year, nearly two-thirds (63%) of Americans plan to attend ticketed events, maintaining last year’s level, while 24% plan to travel specifically for major pop culture events.
Travel and Ticketed Events
The index reveals a strong connection between travel and entertainment, with many Americans planning trips around concerts, sports, and live events globally. This trend is particularly pronounced among younger travelers, with 40% of those aged 18-34 intending to travel for such events, compared to 26% of those aged 35-54 and just 9% of those over 55.

Event Preferences
The survey found that more than half of Americans (52%) are likely to attend concerts, festivals, or performing arts events, followed by 43% who prefer sporting events.
Travel Insurance and Event Protection
Daniel Durazo, Director of External Communications at Allianz Partners USA, emphasized the importance of event ticket insurance. “If you plan to build a trip around an event, ask your ticketing provider about event ticket insurance which may reimburse you up to 100% of non-refundable ticket costs if a covered situation prevents you from attending,” he advised. Travel insurance can also help reimburse pre-paid, non-refundable travel costs, up to the plan’s maximum limit, if you have to cancel your trip for a reason covered by the policy.
Event Ticket ProtectorSM
Event Ticket ProtectorSM from Allianz Partners can reimburse up to 100% of non-refundable ticket costs, up to $10,000, for covered situations such as unexpected illness or non-voluntary job loss. This protection also includes access to 24/7 assistance through the company’s event hotline and is available via leading event ticket providers.
Methodology
The Vacation Confidence Index survey was conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs and involved a sample of 2,010 Americans aged 18 and over, interviewed from April 15 to 22, 2024. The survey’s results are accurate within +/- 2.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
