Tulsa, Okla. – Texas Men’s Tennis earned two first-round qualifying wins, including sophomore Lucas Brown in singles, and the pair of Brown and junior Sebastian Gorzny in doubles, at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa on Monday.
Brown, who had already won three single matches in prequalifying, kept the momentum going by topping Nicholas Heng of Auburn, 6-4, 6-2. He will next face 16 seed No. 71 Aidan Kim of Ohio State on Tuesday at 9 a.m. CT.
Later in the day, the No. 31 duo of Brown and junior Sebastian Gorzny defeated Luis Felipe Miguel and Adam Bojkovic of Tulsa, 6-1, 6-3. They will now take on Billy Blaydes and William Nolan of Auburn at 3 p.m. CT.
Meanwhile, the No. 68 tandem of senior Pierre-Yves Bailly and junior Jonah Braswell fell to Dhakshineswar Suresh and Andrew Delgado of Wake Forest, 6-3, 6-4. However, they will move to the consolation draw and play No. 43 Danil Panarin and Nathan Cox of Vanderbilt at 4 p.m. CT.
