The New York Jets are currently working to trade star wide receiver Davante Adams (32) following the release of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Adams is set to count for $38.2 million against the Jets‘ salary cap this upcoming season so it’s no surprise the team wants to go in a different direction.
If the Jets can’t find a trade partner, the team said they will release Adams to free agency – leaving him to sign with any team.
Adams was acquired in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last season and played 11 games for the Jets.
He posted 67 receptions on 114 targets for 854 yards and seven touchdowns for an abysmal Jets team that went 5-12 last season.
Rodgers originally had Adams traded to the Jets per his request. So perhaps the two could reunite on another team once again this offseason – perhaps a team close to the Jets.
