NFL teams face a grueling challenge at the end of every preseason. They have to trim their 90-man rosters down to 53 for the upcoming NFL season.
That means as many as 1,184 players become available and are looking for a place to continue living their NFL dreams.
Cut days never get easier for NFL teams, but the expansion of practice squads has dulled at least some of the pain of roster cut day. The expanded practice squads allow up to 544 players to bounce back quickly and claim jobs within the NFL.

Still, young players and veteran talents alike are hoping to make the 53-man roster to earn the type of security that comes with such a role. The jobs also come with a solid, veteran minimum salary that pays more than a spot on a practice squad.
As always, hundreds of NFL players will see their dreams come to an end, and there will be at least a handful of surprises among the final cuts.
Sporting News is tracking the NFL’s final roster cuts as all 32 teams finalize the first iteration of their 53-man rosters.
