WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – NFL star Jordan Phillips, a Wichita metro native, gave back to his community this Saturday by hosting a football camp for local youth.

Phillips, who is entering his 10th season as a defensive tackle for the New York Giants, welcomed 200 young football players to the Jordan Phillips Football Camp. The three-hour event took place at Circle High School in Towanda, where Phillips attended before launching his professional football career.

The camp featured a variety of drills taught by Phillips and other local coaches to help the young athletes hone their skills. Phillips expressed his motivation for starting the camp, emphasizing the exceptional talent present in Kansas.

“There’s great athletes here, but there’s not enough publicity going out to show these kids,” said Phillips. Everyone feels like they have to move and do stuff like that to get recruited and be part of something big. We have everything here we need, we just have to get the people more involved. That’s my biggest message. Let’s go, let’s get it together, let’s support these kids and let’s make dreams come true.”

Phillips said he hopes to make the camp an annual event and plans to continue supporting and fostering local talent in the years to come.
