After reigning over reality TV for more than a decade, Kim Kardashian has set her sights on the world of scripted television. She’s starring in the 12th season of American Horror Story, called AHS: Delicate, in a role specifically written for her, opposite franchise favorite Emma Roberts. Halley Feiffer (American Crime Story, Dear Edward) will be the sole showrunner for this chapter of the long-running series from Ryan Murphy.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Murphy said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter last year. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
Murphy was reportedly impressed by Kardashian’s hosting gig on Saturday Night Live in 2021 and began talking about her role on AHS last summer, according to THR. (Patti LuPone, however, does not approve the casting.) Kardashian shared the news on social media, surprising her millions of fans.
AHS: Delicate was split into two parts, with the first installment debuting in September 2023. The internet was impressed with Kardashian’s performance, and quickly became excited for the second half. Luckily, the wait is almost over. AHS: Delicate will be returning to our TVs this April.
Here’s what else we know.
The highly-anticipated part two will premiere on April 3, 2024 at 10 P.M. ET/PT on FX. It will be available to stream on Hulu the following day. The second half of the season will be four episodes long, with a new episode dropping each Wednesday following the premiere until the finale.
Below is the official trailer.
Part one of this installment premiered on Sept. 20, 2023 on FX. Watch the trailer below.
Delicate is partly based on Danielle Valentine’s novel Delicate Condition, which was published in August 2023.
According to its publisher Sourcebooks, it’s a thriller “that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens—while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says.”
One pull quote from author Andrea Bartz even describes the story as a “feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby,” a novel-turned-film with a similar theme.
Part one of AHS: Delicate showed Anna struggling with fertility issues as she and her husband, Dex, tried to start a family together. While undergoing IVF, she grew more and more paranoid that someone or something was targeting her and her pregnancy. At the same time, Anna’s career as a movie star is at an all-time high. After losing a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, Anna tells Siobhan that she wants to win an Oscar as badly as she wants a baby.
The trailer for part two opens up with Anna telling Siobhan that she feels like something is wrong with her as she takes a bite out of a bone.
“I’m going to give you the life of your dreams,” Siobhan can be heard saying in a voiceover as Anna imagines some pregnancy-related terrors, like a black clawed hand ripping out of her belly, and a baby carriage lit on fire.
“What would you give up for it?” she asks the actress.
“Anything,” Anna answers, and Siobhan smiles before they share a kiss.
“Sometimes you have to snap a few necks,” Siobhan says at one point in the trailer, suggesting that she just may be the villain of this season after all.
“You’re a monster,” Anna says to her publicist, who smiles slyly before saying, “Oh, no, babe. I am so much worse.”
The trailer is full of AHS’s typical blood, creepy beings, satanic cult activity, and other horrors. It also shows spiders several times throughout the minute-and-a-half long clip, which is a big, recurring theme for this season.
AHS: Delicate marked a comeback for Roberts after a four-year hiatus from AHS. Her past seasons on the series include Coven, Freak Show, and Cult. She stars in Delicate as actress Anna Victoria Alcott. Kardashian plays Anna’s publicist, Siobhan Corbyn. Cara Delevingne joined the cast as Ivy, a mysterious woman who appeared to be following Anna around in part one. Matt Czuchry is Dex Harding, Anna’s husband. Annabelle Dexter-Jones plays both artist Sonia Shawcross and Dex’s late wife, Adeline. Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is Nicolette, the house manager for Talia Donovan (Juliana Canfield) who grew close to Anna after Adeline’s passing. Maaz Ali plays Anna’s bodyguard, Kamal. Billie Lourd (Ashley), Denis O’Hare (Dr. Andrew Hill), and Leslie Grossman (Ashleigh) are also guests in the cast.
