Chris Jones is a three-time Super Bowl champion.
But the Kansas City Chiefs star still hasn’t forgotten his instantly embarrassing NFL Combine moment.
The combine, which returns this week in Indianapolis, is a chance for draft prospects to catch the eye of NFL teams, general managers and coaches.
Unfortunately for Jones, he took that opportunity a bit too literally during his workout and suffered one of the most embarrassing moments in combine history.
The former Mississippi State Bulldog defender had an unforgettable combine experience in 2016, when he ran the 40-yard dash and suffered a wardrobe malfunction that resulted in his manhood escaping the tight compression shorts he was wearing.
To make matters worse, NFL Network replayed the run and accidentally zoomed in on Jones’ private area.
Years later, he joined Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce and brother Jason on their New Heights podcast, leaving them in stitches over the mortifying moment.
“You had one of the most electric combine moments that’s ever gone on national television,” Travis said.
Jones replied: “I was so big on being different from everyone – everybody was wearing the f***ing long tights and I was like, ‘You know what, I’m not going out there and copying everybody.’
” ‘I’m going to wear the short tights.’
“I didn’t realise they was boxers, bro! Honest to God!”
“Well it made you faster,” Travis replied while wiping tears away from laughing so hard.
“You tripped over that third leg,” Jason joked, causing the other two to burst into laughter.
“That s*** is so f***ing funny,” Travis replied, “We were dying laughing.”
Jones then remembered saying ‘my d*** fell out’ as cameras zoomed in on him.
“All of a sudden I felt it touch my leg and I’m like, Oh s***.’ “
Travis was laughing uncontrollably as Jones said he tried to hide it ‘as little kids were watching.’
“I don’t think mine could ‘fall’ anywhere,” responded Jason, as the three struggled to hold it together.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated back in 2017, Jones went into more detail.
“My d*** came out. … I looked down and the hummer is out,” he recalled.
“I try to cover it up. I’m thinking to myself, ‘Little kids are watching. I take a dive and try to cover it up. I’m thinking to myself, ‘How long was this thing out?’
“Those black tights, they weren’t really tights. They were boxers. I’m probably the embarrassment king.”
Jones ultimately clocked his 40-yard dash in 5.03 seconds – fifth fastest among 300-pound defensive lineman.
Thankfully, the embarrassing incident didn’t cause Jones to slip in the draft, as he was selected in the second-round by the Chiefs with the number 37 overall pick.
He would go on to become one of the best DTs in the league.
The 30-year-old is a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro.
Jones finished the past season with 37 tackles, five sacks and 20 quarterback hits in 15 starts.
He also stars in a 40-yard dash video that resurfaces every year that the NFL Combine returns.
