The end may not be near.
The Kansas City star tight end revealed what his future plans will be.
Or what he would like them to be.
When asked where he will be in three years, Kelce didn’t beat around the bush.
“Where will I be in three years,” Kelce said.
“Oh man, I don’t know. Hopefully still playing football.
“I love doing this. I love coming into work everyday.
“I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me, but we’ll see what happens.
“I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life.
“That’s always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long.
“You got to find a way to get into another career, into another profession.
“For the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”
After this season, Kelce has one year remaining on his contract with Kansas City.
The 35-year-old has started to grow his brand outside of football in the last couple of years, most notably with his hit podcast, New Heights.
There’s been speculation on whether or not this could be Kelce’s last game, and if he would follow in his older brother’s footsteps, Jason, who retired after last season.
The tight end will be trying to win his fourth Super Bowl on Sunday and cement his status at as the greatest to ever do it at his position.
He doesn’t necessarily need a fourth ring to stake that claim, as his resume and list of records give him more than a fair argument.
But a fourth ring may just end all the arguments.
He made it clear with his answer on Monday night that he wants to keep playing football.
In Kansas City.
And while he may not be the guy he once was, Kelce still rises to the occasion.
Especially in the postseason.
