AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women’s basketball senior Shay Holle has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The CSC Academic All-America program was established in 1952 and is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success in collegiate sports.
Holle becomes the second player in Texas women’s basketball history to earn this award. Jamie Carey was honored in 2004.
Holle finished her undergraduate degree in three years in Finance from the McCombs School of Business and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in strategic communication.
On the court Holle earned an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection and was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. Holle played in all 38 games for Texas and helped the Longhorns to a 33-5 record, their most wins in a season since the 1985-86 season. The Longhorns captured the 2024 Big 12 Tournament and advanced to their third Elite Eight in the last four seasons. Holle scored in double-figures in 13 games and played all 40 minutes in 12 games on the season.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. The all-time list of 40,000+ Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world’s most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science and the arts. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. Teams are announced year round and amplified by CSC member colleges, universities, and conferences on a wide local, regional, national, and even international scope.
